Now a significant date in Dublin’s annual literary calendar The Franco-Irish Literary Festival is preparing for its fourteenth edition continuing the tradition that led to Dublin’s nomination as a UNESCO City of Literature.

This year the festival promises to be very special due to The Gathering Ireland 2013 and the Irish Presidency of the EU from January to June.

As part of The Gathering Ireland 2013, we invite you and your extended clan to join us in celebrating Irish literature and the historical bond between Ireland and France.

In recognition of Ireland’s Presidency of the EU, this year the festival also opens its doors to writers from several countries across Europe. Our aim is to celebrate European cultural connections with Ireland, to encourage the discovery of Irish and other European literature and to promote the rich variety of languages through readings in Irish, English, French and German. We will also welcome Belgian, Czech and Romanian writers.

Our theme this year is: Love and hurt – L’amour, la blessure – Grá agus Gortú.

There will be four round-table discussions:
-Searching for love – En quête de l’amour – Ar thóir an Ghrá
-Love and hurt – L’amour, la blessure – Grá agus Gortú
-Heartache – Blessure de soi – Gortú anama
-Starting anew – Repartir à zéro – Tosú as an nua

All events are open to the public – Admission free – Interpretation (English and French) provided.
